Aaron M. Bostrom

Aaron commenced his legal career by litigating civil rights, land use, and municipal liability issues for local governments across Minnesota. For over three years, Aaron helped his clients win countless dispositive motions in state and federal court at both the district court and appellate levels and played an integral part in cases that resulted in defense verdicts at trial. In 2024, Aaron expanded his experiences by litigating complex business, employment, and religious liberty issues nationwide. His practice now primarily encompasses all types of employment and business litigation, as well as civil rights, religious liberty, and free speech. Since joining the firm in 2025, Aaron continues to enjoy working in other areas of law championed at Eckland & Blando.

Aaron is passionate about creative problem-solving and cultivating meaningful client relationships. He employs this integrated approach to ascertain and tackle the distinct challenges faced by each client and to pursue strategies customized for achieving their best outcomes.

Aaron graduated magna cum laude from the University of St. Thomas School of Law, where he served as an editor for the School’s Law Journal. Aaron’s most formative law school experiences included a judicial externship with Federal District Court Judge Paul A. Magnuson and coauthoring an amicus brief for the United States Supreme Court.

  • Obtained summary judgment dismissing Plaintiff’s claims of excessive force where plaintiff’s charging with a knife warranted using deadly force. Quinones v.   • Obtained summary judgment dismissing excessive force claims against police officers where plaintiff’s erratic behavior while wielding a knife in a confined living room warranted the use of deadly force. Dimock , Tr. for Dimock-Heisler v. City of Brooklyn Ctr., No. CV 22-2124 (DWF/DLM), 2024 WL 991361, at *1 (D. Minn. Mar. 7, 2024), aff’d sub nom. Dimock , Tr. for Heirs of Dimock-Heisler v.   • Obtained judgment on the pleadings where plaintiff sued police for excessive force related to the use of vehicular rams, tasers, and physical blows in response to plaintiff fleeing the scene and resisting arrest after reportedly engaging in domestic violence with a firearm. Jackson v. City of Brooklyn Ctr., No. 23-1678, 2023 WL 6876550, at *1 (8th Cir. Sept. 28, 2023).
  • Obtained summary judgment for claims based on qualified immunity for a city attorney giving advice regarding the removal of a hotel guest. Davitt v. Spindler-Krage, 656 F. Supp. 3d 865 (D. Minn. 2023), aff’d, 96 F.4th 1068 (8th Cir. 2024).
  • Successfully opposed plaintiffs’ motion for class certification and obtained summary judgment dismissing plaintiff’s claims based on jail lockdowns and gym closures during the COVID-19 pandemic. Brenizer v. Cnty. of Sherburne, No. CV 21-1301(DSD/TNL), 2023 WL 7168840, at *1 (D. Minn. Oct. 31, 2023).
  • Obtained dismissal on motion to dismiss for failure to state a claim of prisoner’s claims. Zongo v. Brott, No. 21-CV-407 (NEB/BRT), 2022 WL 2181759, at *1 (D. Minn. June 16, 2022).
  • Obtained judgment on the pleadings, dismissing plaintiff’s claims against the mayor and city for defamation. Mark Louis Friederichs v. Shep Harris, City of Golden Valley, Minn. Dist. Ct. 27-CV-23-4341.
  • Obtained dismissal no motion to dismiss based on claims related to plaintiff’s alleged wrongful arrest and conviction for unlawful possession of a firearm. Yang v. City of Richfield, No. CV 22-2732 (PAM/DLM), 2023 WL 3166470, at *1 (D. Minn. Apr. 28, 2023).
  • Obtained partial summary judgment based on officers’ reasonable suspicion that the plaintiffs’ vehicle was involved in public shooting. Mhanna v. Metro. Council, No. 21-CV-1974 (ECT/DTS), 2023 WL 3179347, at *14 (D. Minn. May 1, 2023)
