Christopher R. Johnson

Christopher joined Eckland & Blando in February 2025. After 3 years of fiercely litigating complex patent lawsuits in federal court and at the USPTO in administrative proceedings, including appeals, with an IP boutique in Minneapolis, Christopher jumped into broader civil litigation and counseling in 2024. His practice now includes business and employment litigation, trademark counseling and prosecution, patent counseling and prosecution, non-profit compliance advice and assistance, advising private schools, and helping religious organizations.

Chris graduated from the University of Notre Dame Law School where he served as a Managing Senior Editor of the Notre Dame Law Review, served residential life on campus as an Assistant Rector of Fisher Hall, and engaged in both his initial specialty of intellectual property law as well as broader constitutional questions and religious liberty issues with the IP Law Society and de Nicola Center for Ethics and Culture.

Chris has a mechanical engineering degree from the University of Wisconsin, in Madison, and is a USPTO Registered Patent Attorney. Chris and his wife are active members of their parish and involved parents.

Chris further draws from corporate experience as a manufacturing engineer for Ecolab, Inc., before going to law school. There, he was responsible for process and product line improvements he developed and helped implement. Chris also worked at an engineering co-op where he was responsible for testing and investigating quality standards of plastic products for a thermoforming automotive supplier.
