Patrick J. O’Connor’s practice primarily focuses on maritime and admiralty law, insurance, contracts, and commercial litigation. He is a member of the Maritime Law Association of the United States and a longstanding member of the New York and New England maritime bar.
Patrick represents vessel owners and operators, insurers, charterers, construction
and dredging firms, freight forwarders, inland carriers, lenders, marina operators, marine surveyors, marine trades providers, fishing associations, stevedores, and terminal operators in maritime litigation. He also advises clients in corporate and commercial transactions.
Patrick’s practice covers a variety of maritime disputes, including maritime
personal injuries and death claims, collisions and casualties, charter party and marine services agreements, limitation of liability actions, Admiralty Rules B, C, and D actions, insurance coverage disputes, and claims made under the Longshore and Harbor Worker’s Compensation Act.
Patrick graduated from State University of New York Maritime College and worked on deck and in the wheelhouse aboard tugboats on the Intracoastal Waterway, the Upper and Lower Mississippi River and the Ohio River. He then received his Juris Doctor Degree from Roger Williams University School of Law, where he was President of the Maritime Law Association and a two-year member of the Admiralty Moot Court team.
Patrick currently holds a USCG Third Mates license and sails recreationally.
